St. Lawrence Seaway Appoints New CEO

Today, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation’s (SLSMC) Board of Directors announced the appointment of Demetrios (Jim) Athanasiou as the Corporation’s next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 12, 2024. Mr. Athanasiou, joined the SLSMC in 2008 as Corporate Mechanical Engineering Manager. He has been in his current role as Vice President, Engineering & Technology since 2016.

This appointment stems from the retirement of the Seaway’s long-time President & CEO, Terence Bowles, who has led the Seaway since 2010. We’d like to thank Mr. Bowles for his continual support of WESTAC and look forward to working with Mr. Athanasiou.
