Disruptive Technologies and the Changing Nature of Work in the Transportation Sector

April 01, 2021 | Category: Research Papers

A report by WESTAC on behalf of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is now live! WESTAC engaged in over a year of extensive research on “Disruptive Technologies and the Changing Nature of Work in the Transportation Sector,” exploring all 21 APEC economies. You can find the report on APEC's website by clicking here

With a target audience of APEC region policymakers, the report contains recommended tools that member economies can use to support their workforce’s adaptation to the changing nature of work caused by disruptive technologies. These tools are intended to prepare workers for new technology-oriented tasks in the workplace, facilitate the retraining of current workers who wish to transition to higher-skilled tasks, and help workers who cannot transition to higher-skilled jobs. The tools are also designed to help underrepresented workers take advantage of new kinds of work, as traditional occupations in the transportation sector are reshaped by technology.

WESTAC will be continuing research in this area with another project. If you are interested and want to know more please contact Marzia Rizvi, WESTAC's Manager, Program Development and Communications at mrizvi@westac.com.
