VANCOUVER, BC—Aging infrastructure and insufficient capacity remain the top challenge identified by 90% of transportation leaders in the 5th annual WESTAC Compass Survey. The survey results also highlighted that the challenges that have emerged since the beginning of the pandemic are at a crossroads and need to be addressed through timely decisions. It is essential for leaders from all segments of the industry to work together for a more collaborative, cohesive, and sustainable future.
 
WESTAC released the Compass Report survey results in advance of the National Supply Chain Summit. The Summit provides an opportunity for supply chain stakeholders to discuss challenges, strategies, and next steps to enable a swift recovery of Canada’s transportation supply chain.
 
Key findings from the 2022 Compass Report include:

• COVID-19 has permeated all levels of operations for organizations
• Workforce issues identified for the first time as a top transportation challenge
• Climate change is increasingly becoming a critical issue for transportation leaders
• A new comprehensive strategy is needed for Western Canada’s trade corridors.
